Contemporary Inspiration

If you’re a fan of contemporary designs and are looking for some much needed inspiration then look no further! I have tried to include what I believe to be some important things to consider when planning and designing your new contemporary bathroom. Should you require any additional help or support then please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Freestanding Baths

There is no better way to relax than in a luxurious freestanding bath!

A freestanding bath provides both the benefit of a visual feature in your bathroom and a comforting safe haven to relax in when you’re simply in need of some “me” time. Many people think of freestanding baths as being more of a traditional style rather than contemporary but that is far from the case in this day and age. You can find a freestanding bath that suits nearly anyone’s criteria, whether it be restricted on size to best support an individual’s height or build, or to the opposite end of the spectrum where the individual is purely interested in design and wants a bath that is sure to WOW everyone that visits!

Wetroom Showers

If you’re looking to create the illusion of a larger space in a small bathroom or create a His & Hers spacious showering area then a Wetroom design is definitely the way to go!

Having a wetroom style shower doesn’t just offer you minimalism but it can provide you with consistency by having the option of using the same floor tile throughout the entirety of the room or even using matching mosaic tiles on the shower area floor. The use of mosaics on the shower floor has become more and more popular mainly due to it offering a more aesthetically pleasing look for the customer because you don’t have all of the envelope cuts that you would have if you used a standard sized tile. If you’re not a fan of tiling the shower floor area but still want to achieve that flush look on the floor then you could consider using a low-level shower tray. You could decide to go with a basic white finish like other shower trays or you could go for a natural/slate effect shower tray. These types of shower trays are available in a variety of colours & shades (blacks, greys, browns, creams & whites) which again gives you the option of choosing a similar colour to your tiles and having that consistency in colour.

As far as Shower-Toilets go SensoWash by Duravit are by far our personal favourite on the market! From its simple and sleek design to its hygienic and practical functionality, the SensoWash shower-toilet is the way forward.

This wonderful product is a WC & Bidet in one with some added luxuries! Complete with a wireless, easy to use remote control the SensoWash Starck® provides you with 3 different washing options (rear wash, ladies wash & comfort wash) and a pleasant air drying once the selected wash is complete. The remote control also allows you to adjust the temperature of the water and toilet seat and save these personal preferences into 1 of 2 user profiles so that you don’t have to make these adjustments every-time you use the toilet. This really would be a fantastic product to consider putting in your bathroom, especially if you’re a proud owner of a bidet! It provides you with the practicalities of both WC & bidet not only without having to move but also without having to take up twice the amount of space which then gives you the option of having a bigger bath or shower.

Mirrors & Lighting

Using the blinding bathroom light in the middle of the night is a thing of the past!

Research has shown that exposure to bright lights during the night suppresses the production of melatonin within your body. Melatonin is the main hormone that controls sleep and wake cycles, therefore a low level of melatonin at night will decrease the length and quality of sleep along with the potential of developing far worse health conditions. A great solution to this problem would be to use colour changing LED strips or spotlights and set them on a red based colour setting for the night time.

Mirrors are a must when accessorizing your bathroom!

They are not only practical in your bathroom for your day to day routine but they help to reflect light around the room and give the illusion of a much larger, brighter space. Whether you prefer ornate framed mirrors or simple beveled edged mirrors they are quite frankly a necessity. With men & women checking themselves between 27-34 times a day on average it wouldn’t seem logical for that not to happen at least once in the bathroom while you brush your teeth in the morning!
